“Mesoglea” takes its name from the gelatinous structure found
between the tissue layers of several species of marine invertebrates, particularly coelenterates and poriferae.
In a jellyfish, the mesoglea is that transparent substance that gives
structure to the organism.
Functioning like a soft skeleton, it allows it to maintain a shape and
prevents it from collapsing in on itself.
This concept inspired me in the idea of extracting and reproduce
the environment and marine organisms in their essence, focusing on the ethereal atmosphere that distinguishes them.
By capturing their movements I brought them into a different and
aseptic context that allows to focus on the subjects, which take on alien and abstract characters.
To realize these organisms I used mainly cloth simulations and
recursive growth.
